Seeds of Change: Stories of Transformation from The Prisoner’s Journey in Albania
The Prisoner’s Journey in Albania continues to make steady progress inside prisons, offering structured courses, mentoring and support to participants seeking a new path forward. Last quarter (October-December 2025), 12 courses were completed, 310 invitations were extended and 124 participants successfully graduated from the program.
While these numbers represent important milestones, the program’s true impact is best understood through participants’ personal stories.
Arben joined the program in September and quickly became an active participant. Before entering the program, he described feeling discouraged and disconnected from both his personal goals and his family. Through the lessons and mentoring provided by chaplains and volunteers, he began to see new possibilities for his life.
“The program has given me hope and a new way to see my future,” Arben shared. “I have learned to manage my emotions and think about the person I want to become once I am released. The chaplains and volunteers really care, and their support makes a difference every day.”
Luan’s story reflects a different but equally powerful journey. He described his heart as once being like soil filled with thorns and rocks, where nothing good could grow. Through The Prisoner’s Journey’s lessons and reflection, he began to see the potential for change within himself.
“Before the program, my heart was hard and difficult to cultivate,” he explained. “Now I am learning to plant and grow something good inside myself, and each lesson helps me change for the better.”
Stories like these illustrate how the The Prisoner’s Journey is doing more than delivering courses. It is creating space for reflection, responsibility and personal transformation. Through the dedication of staff, chaplains and volunteers, participants are finding hope and beginning to imagine a different future beyond prison walls.
Transformation rarely happens overnight. But as these stories from Albania show, even small steps — one lesson, one conversation, one moment of reflection — can begin to change a life.
