“This program, which helped me realize the value of the Gospel, is especially memorable for me, as someone who previously had no faith. Through The Listener’s Way, I came to understand the folly of my past sins, which I had not recognized, I realized that God’s voice is always near and that the Lord walks with me. I also learned that I have the opportunity to wash away my sins through repentance.
Three months ago, when I first encountered faith at Somang Prison, it felt awkward and uncomfortable. I thought the Bible was merely a fiction novel. To me, it was a boring, ancient book filled with complex words and meaningless phrases. I saw Jesus as just another protagonist in a story. One day, while attending mandatory education and gatherings without much thought, I encountered the program The Listener’s Way as part of the new education process. This marked a turning point, significantly changing my perception of Christianity, which I had viewed with skepticism.
Through The Listener’s Way, I learned about the historical aspects of the Bible and realized that it is a book based on facts, written by numerous scribes. Consequently, I understood that Jesus’ great love and His sacrifice for our sins are true. I felt ashamed and unable to lift my head, realizing that we have received immense grace from the Lord but were unaware of it. Sharing the gospel with our group members every week through Pastor Won was rewarding, and I was grateful to hear and learn different perspectives.
Listening felt more gracious than speaking, and I appreciated being able to communicate my unknowns and curiosities, allowing for diverse opinions. I would like to express my gratitude to Pastor Won and the missionaries who have worked hard for us. I will strive to ensure that what I have learned and felt will not be forgotten and will work towards making this a sincere faith, not just a hobby.”
