Jean Claude | Rwanda
Born to a mother who was raising three boys on her own, Jean Claude had always longed to meet his father, who had been incarcerated shortly before he was born. However, every time he asked his mother about visiting him, she would tell him that they needed money for transportation to the prison, which they couldn’t afford on her meager wages. As a result, Jean Claude lived a life filled with embarrassment and unhappiness. He struggled in his studies and often wondered how he and his mother could escape their difficult circumstances.
Jean Claude remembers the day all of that changed. Through his enrollment in The Child’s Journey, Jean Claude’s life started improving. His school fees were paid and he was given the school materials and uniforms he needed. He received medical care and food and was taught about God’s word, which helped him grow spiritually.
Jean Claude was elated to find out that a prison visit for him to finally meet his father was arranged. Upon seeing his father, he was overwhelmed with emotion. They cried together and Jean Claude finally felt a sense of happiness and belonging that had been missing all his life.
During the visit, Jean Claude’s father took the opportunity to share his wisdom with his son so that he would not end up in prison like him. It was a powerful and profound moment for Jean Claude. He expressed his gratitude, saying, “I am thankful to Prison Fellowship Rwanda and my sponsor for the kindness they show to children with incarcerated parents through The Child’s Journey!”
