Update from Ukraine – Holy Week 2022 | by Cristina Ursachila and Hugh Greathead
We pray you have a very blessed Easter!
In Europe, we need peace, love, forgiveness, mercy, grace and justice more than ever. Since these are personified by Jesus, Easter is a great time to lift His name high.
As members of Prison Fellowship International, we have a wonderful mission to bring restorative justice through the love of Jesus. Part of this great work includes our response in Ukraine. Here is a small update:
PF Ukraine has just received its third grant from The HopeBearer Foundation. It is amazing how many prisoners and refugees have been helped until now! Nastya from PF Ukraine comments, `We can see a lot of miracles happening in the middle of this deep crisis.’
Prison Ministry: PF Ukraine purchased food supplies for BVK-119 prison in Martuska village and VK-58 prison in the Izyaslov region. Hygiene products were delivered to a Correctional Colony in the Zhytomyr region.
PF Romania has delivered more than 10 loads of food, supplies and medicines deep into Ukraine.
More than 600 people were helped with humanitarian aid in Bucha shortly after the liberation.
PF Ukraine provided 8 Rehabilitation Centers which are hosting refugees from other cities with humanitarian items
Here are specific prayer points that can help guide our prayers for Ukraine:
Pray that over Easter, the death and resurrection of Jesus will shine through the darkness.
Pray for God’s peace to be a source of strength for volunteers and workers.
Pray for leaders of both countries to know God’s truth and be transformed by His Holy Spirit.
Let’s pray that despite the war, that the prison doors would be open for new opportunities to spread the Good News.
Blessings,
Hugh and Cristina
