Carlos Alvarez

Senior Regional Director, Latin America & Caribbean

Carlos supports National Ministries across the Latin America and the Caribbean region through strategic leadership, partnership development and program management services. He brings more than 15 years of experience in international development, sustainable project management and large-scale program implementation. Carlos has led high-performing, multidisciplinary teams in collaboration with international NGOs, local communities and public and private sector partners.

Previously, Carlos served as a Senior Program Manager in Colombia, where he led teams implementing holistic development programs for children and youth, translating organizational strategy and Theory of Change into practical, measurable action. He also served as Senior Regional Project Specialist for Latin America and the Caribbean and as Team Lead for Interventions in South America, providing strategic and technical guidance to country offices across up to 12 nations. In these roles, he strengthened regional collaboration, ensured quality and consistency of program delivery, supported team development and performance management, and acted as a liaison between national offices, global headquarters in the United States and donor alliances.

Carlos holds a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership with an emphasis in International Development, along with academic training in Finance and International Relations. He is fluent in Spanish and English, with additional proficiency in Portuguese and French. Known for his strategic vision, communication and passion for meaningful impact, he is deeply committed to building strong partnerships and delivering results. Carlos lives in Latin America and Carribian region with his ten-year-old son, and enjoys playing soccer, cycling with his son and reading.
