Sacrifice and a Second Chance | Colombia
Paola’s journey is marked by hardship and redemption. Once imprisoned, Paola now pours all her strength into caring for and building a better future for her children. Her home, a humble dwelling of wood and zinc sheets, speaks to both her poverty and perseverance. Since regaining her freedom, she has devoted herself completely to her family.
“I do not wish to have a romantic partner but instead to dedicating myself completely to her family and providing them with a better future,” Paola said. Though work is uncertain and comes only by the day in restaurants, Paola remains hopeful that God will open a door to a stable job.
Through The Child’s Journey, Paola and her children have found more than just assistance; they’ve found community. In the program, Paola’s children have been encouraged to reflect on their mother’s resilience as they discover their talents and purpose. For the program team, walking alongside families like Paola’s is a reminder of God’s provision and the power of mentorship and faith to transform lives.
“It is a source of pride to witness their effort, resilience and faith, and to be part of their process of transformation and overcoming,” the family’s caseworker said. Paola’s story is one of determination in the face of struggle.
