FEBBY | Zambia
Febby, a hardworking mother in Zambia, was devastated the day her husband received his prison sentence. Left as the sole provider for her family, she worked two jobs to survive, yet still couldn’t pay all of their bills. After receiving an eviction notice, Febby and her children moved in with her parents. It broke her heart to huddle with her children on the floor to sleep, as her parents did not have the means to provide beds. As the weight of poverty settled on them, her children’s education began to suffer, and their grades declined significantly. She prayed for help, and God’s provision arrived through Prison Fellowship Zambia.
After meeting with Febby’s husband in prison during a Bible study course, the team followed up to check on her and the children. They enrolled the children in our children’s program and began providing critical support to ensure that they could remain safe, healthy and educated.
Febby wasn’t sure what to expect, but she never imagined that the program would provide them with rental support, allowing them to have an apartment of their own that included beds for the children. To Febby, this showed that Prison Fellowship Zambia truly cared for the family’s dignity and well-being. With steady support, Febby’s family began to rebuild their lives. Her son, Noah, once struggling, excelled in his exams, placing third in his class and earning a certificate of excellence.
The program encouraged Febby to join a financial literacy group that empowered her to start a small business. Today, her faith is renewed as she watches her children improve in mind and spirit. Febby’s one hope now is the release of her husband so that the family can close this difficult chapter and move into a brighter future, together.
