LEARN HOW CHILD SPONSORSHIP CHANGES LIVES
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:
Choose your child.
Let us know if you’d like to sponsor a boy or girl, the age range, and the country you prefer. You’ll help provide your sponsored child with essentials for a happy, healthy life.
Begin your sponsorship journey.
It starts when you receive a Welcome Kit with the story and photo of your sponsored child. And it continues with prayer requests and updates from your child that show the difference you are making.
Make a one-to-one connection.
Develop a relationship with your sponsored child as you write and receive letters—to celebrate special occasions or simply show that you care.
HOW YOU CAN HELP THE CHILD OF PRISONERS:
Basic nutrition to ensure that your sponsored child has enough to eat.
Essential healthcare to restore health and hope.
Educational support to help your child get the skills necessary for a bright future.
Christian guidance to help heal the emotional and spiritual wounds caused by rejection and loss, and provide confidence.
Regular support from a child development worker to offer a loving presence in your sponsored child’s life and make sure urgent needs are being met.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS CHILD SPONSORSHIP?
Child Sponsorship through Prison Fellowship International is when an individual or family donates a regular sum of money to support the growth and development of a child whose parents are in prison. Sponsors are encouraged to write their child and will be updated regularly on their child’s progress and participation in program activities.
HOW MUCH OF MY DONATION DOES MY SPONSORED CHILD RECEIVE?
Your gifts do not go directly to your sponsored child, but will be used to provide program activities and a child caseworker who will help them receive essentials such as food, shelter, medical care, and education. More than 75 percent of funds donated to sponsor a child are used to directly support and care for the children. Prison Fellowship International diligently aims to adhere to acceptable financial and fundraising practices. As such, we are a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA), an accreditation organization dedicated to helping Christian ministries earn the public’s trust through adherence to stewardship best practices related to board governance, financial transparency, integrity in fundraising, and proper use of charity resources.
WILL I HEAR FROM MY SPONSORED CHILD?
Absolutely! You can look forward to receiving a response letter from your child up to six times a year. The child’s child development worker will help if the child is too young to know how to write. If the letter is not in English, we will enclose a translation.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I CAN NO LONGER SPONSOR MY CHILD
If you stop your sponsorship, we will make it a priority to match your child with a new sponsor. Although the child will remain in our program, he or she may receive fewer benefits until a new sponsor is found.
