Programs

Angel Tree

Angel Tree Christmas is a Prison Fellowship program that connects parents in prison with their children through the delivery of Christmas gifts. In most cases, local church volunteers purchase and deliver gifts and the Gospel to children in the name of their prisoner-parent. Many churches make an annual commitment to this highly rewarding program and recognize it as a way to care for some of the most overlooked members of our communities.

Angel Tree Mother’s Day

The Mothers’ Day initiative was established in 2011 following good experience with the Christmas Angel Tree program. Children and young adults in custody are offered the chance to send their mum or other significant maternal figure a Mothers’ Day card and a £5 gift voucher. A simple card and gift have the potential to turn a life around through maintaining or reestablishing family relationships.

Letter Link

Letter Link allows trained volunteers to write to prisoners. It’s particularly valued by those who have lost touch with their friends or family, and it enables volunteers who may be unable to visit prison to play an active part in our ministry.

Support to Chaplaincy Work

Prison chaplains provide valuable pastoral and spiritual support for the prisoners in their care. PF volunteers support them by visiting prisoners, leading or assisting with Sunday services, running music groups, Bible studies, and parenting courses and offering bereavement counseling.

Sycamore Tree Project

Sycamore Tree is a volunteer-led victim awareness program that teaches the principles of restorative justice. It is taught in prisons in groups of up to 20 learners, over a 6-week period. Learners on the program explore the effects of crime on victims, offenders, and the wider community, and discuss what it would mean to take responsibility for their personal actions.

Week of Prayer

The Annual Week of Prayer can be observed at any time during the year. The week is designed as a special occasion for Prison Fellowship to communicate and connect with churches and the community in order to focus on ministry among prisoners, ex-prisoners, the families of prisoners, and victims of crime.
