Senior Director, Major Gifts
As Senior Director of Major Gifts, Ruth Chodniewicz leads Prison Fellowship International’s development team in matching caring supporters with giving opportunities that meet their unique passions and interests.
Ruth joined Prison Fellowship International in 2013, after working at Prison Fellowship Ministries where she served as the Director of Strategic Initiatives. At Prison Fellowship International, Ruth has filled a variety of roles over the years and has enjoyed lending her hand to the design and implementation of new program partnerships and the infrastructure required to support them. Notably, Ruth launched Prison Fellowship International’s Artist Program, which featured 50-70 concerts and events per year in support of child sponsorship, a key funding model supporting The Child’s Journey program.
Ruth is grateful to have learned skills while working at other nonprofits that help her serve Prison Fellowship International better. At Humanities Tennessee, she managed grant reporting to the National Endowment for Humanities, and at Rocketown, she implemented updated accounting and financial management practices for the growing music venue and skatepark. During a stint in the for-profit world, Ruth learned project and team management at Booz Allen Hamilton while on contract for the Department of Transportation (FAA, FHWA). A journalist and storyteller at heart, Ruth has honed her writing and marketing skills in a variety of ways over the years, including writing for Dave Ramsey’s newspaper column and ghostwriting books.
Ruth holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Political Science from Rutgers University. She lives in beautiful New Jersey with her two children, adopted with love from South America. In her free time, Ruth enjoys drinking coffee, playing sports outside with her kids, floral design, and home remodeling projects.
